Introducing

TAILWIND

KEF Robotics provides state-of-the-art autonomy software to fly aircraft without a human pilot. A computer vision company at its core, KEF’s algorithms leverage cameras to enable autonomous flight across a variety of platforms and use cases. Our mission is to improve the safety and reliability of aircraft and expand their range and utility.

Our navigation solution, Tailwind, works by mimicking a GPS signal to an autopilot, providing timestamped latitude/longitude/altitude coordinates, velocity, and standard deviation quality metrics. Tailwind enables aircraft to operate in day and nighttime without GPS in uncooperative environments.

VISUAL INERTIAL ODOMETRY (VIO)

No map, low drift, dead reckoning

01

Use Cases

Tailwind's VIO capability is designed for short-range, low-altitude, high-speed, and highly maneuverable missions. VIO stabilizes your aircraft, ensuring it reaches the target with precision without maps onboard.

03

Integration

Tailwind VIO is available as an attachable payload equipped with all necessary sensors and onboard computing. It can also be deployed through a quick and easy software upgrade, utilizing the aircraft’s existing sensors and computing infrastructure. With either option, integration is seamless, enabling GPS-free flight within hours.

02

Performance

  • Operational in daytime, night time, and inclement weather

  • <2% drift rate at 100mph

  • Altitudes 0 - 1500m / 0 - 4000ft

  • Robust to highly dynamic flight maneuvers

  • Self-monitoring health and status

04

Support

Our engineering team ready to support the integration of Tailwind with any aircraft. We offer rapid progression from data collection to both open-loop and closed-loop flight. Our team provides comprehensive support before, during, and after the deployment of the Tailwind module, either remotely or on-site.

Terrain Relative Navigation (TRN)

Long range map-based matching

01

Use Cases

Tailwind's TRN enables long-range flight with GPS-level accuracy at higher altitudes. Designed to support ISR capabilities, TRN incorporates our VIO module for enhanced aircraft stabilization.

03

Integration

Tailwind TRN is available as an attachable payload equipped with all necessary sensors and onboard computing. It can also be deployed through a quick and easy software upgrade, utilizing the aircraft’s existing sensors and computing infrastructure. With either option, integration is seamless, enabling GPS-free flight within hours.

02

Performance

  • 10.5 m 3D error at 120m altitude

  • 4.0 m 3D error at 50m altitude

  • Altitudes 120-6,000+ ft

  • Absolute Global Position via map match

  • Operational in daytime, night time, and inclement weather

  • Up to 50% occlusion

04

Support

Our engineering team ready to support the integration of Tailwind with any aircraft. We offer rapid progression from data collection to both open-loop and closed-loop flight. Our team provides comprehensive support before, during, and after the deployment of the Tailwind module, either remotely or on-site.
